HERE IS MY STORY:
How did I start writing? Here is my story. I lost my daughter in July to a stillbirth. My world went crashing down overnight. I struggled to find any kind of happiness. Then I woke up one day and decided to write.
And so I wrote.
I wrote down everything I ever wanted to say to her. I wrote down the dreams I had, the hopes that were once there, and every memory I carried of her. It was the only thing that kept my mind from falling apart, because no one talks about the depression that follows losing a baby. No one talks about the struggle it takes just to wake up the next day.
So I wrote and wrote, and everything I poured onto the page became Our Little Moon. My first book ever, and it was all for her.
My baby, Luna.
After Our Little Moon, I couldn’t stop writing. The moment I paused, reality would crash back, and everything felt unbearably heavy. Weighted by the overwhelming truth that she was gone, and I was alone.
So I wrote. My husband and I came up with an idea: to create a character with her name. A fierce princess I imagined she would have grown to be. We built plots, stories, characters, the monsters haunting the realms, and the prince who shined so brightly on the outside but was slowly dying inside, like me. We created a mythological tale about a fallen star that shattered into eight pieces, granting magical power to whoever it chose. When shadow creatures attacked the villages, misunderstandings rose between the realms, and two heirs searched for answers—only to find each other.
The story was meant to bring her back to life. To give her the journey she never had here, because she was already gone. Writing it became my escape. My way of finding her again. My way of seeing her in my story when I couldn’t see her in real life.
That book, which was only supposed to be a standalone, grew into six books. I never knew I had so much to write for her. I took her on a journey. She met friends. She found love. She battled shadow creatures, shadow wielders, and mysterious monsters.
I gave her life.
And that life was originally called Sun and Moon.
Now renamed Of Moonlight and Fire.
